Here's a recap of some of my favorite outfits from this month. I really loved how this challenge pushed me to wear the dress in new, crazy ways. (Looking back, I totally should have tried to turn it into a pair of pants!) One of my favorite epiphanies was transforming it into a scarf. You can turn nearly any sleeveless dress into a scarf just by pulling the bottom of the dress through the sleeves. I'm already thinking up ways to wear my other dresses as scarves.
In other news, Anchorage was voted America's worst dressed city. For the most part, that's probably true, though I do have a little more faith in Alaskans than whoever answered this poll. It just made me laugh. In Alaska, you can have all sorts of styles in one place. When I went out to eat for my graduation dinner (day 19), my family went in jeans and sweatshirts. We saw everything from hiking clothes (aka backpack, muddy boots, haven't shaved in days type look), to fancy LBDs and red lipstick. We even saw one girl with a black and white dress with neon orange heels and neon pink and yellow earrings. So I don't think we're the worst dressed, we're just like the New York City of the west, we've got every style here!
But back to my main point. Haha sorry for that digression. This challenge has seriously been so much fun and I'm almost sad that it's over. :) I will be happy to do outfit posts on other outfits though. (I have an awesome velvet dress that's on the waiting list ... I just have to sew it so I can wear it.)
I just want to thank you all so so much again for being so supportive of this. You can continue to donate to the Batonga Foundation through the donate button on the left-hand side bar at any time. And if you just can't get enough of the 30 day challenge concept, another blogger has been inspired to do the challenge for the month of June! You can check her out here!

Aaaah the shoes are back! I was trying to achieve a look that was feminine but kind of BA at the same time ... not sure if it worked out or not, haha.
I bought that lace shirt thinking I could fix it up (the sleeves are crazy puffy and I was hoping to make them not so), but that was months ago. If I ever start up a shop (eh, a girl can dream, right?) this may be one of the shirts that will go up. It also may seem like I've run out of ideas for this dress (I mean come on, a shirt and jeans?), but let me tell you, I still have so many ways to style this dress in my head, it's crazy (shall we turn this into a 60 day challenge? ....... eeeeeh maybe not, haha). I've started writing down outfit combinations and it's a really great way to plan out outfits. I think when college starts that will be a lifesaver when I'm being lazy in bed instead of waking up for classes. I usually have no brain power in the morning to concentrate on being creative with clothes anyways.
As always, I'm wearing this dress for an entire month to raise money for the Batonga Foundation, which supports girls in Africa by giving them a full education. You can read more about it here! Every little bit helps. So please please donate today!
Thank you and have an awesome day!
the dress: as shirt // shorts: target // tights/jacket: forever 21 // lace cardigan: thrifted
I seem to not have any definite clothing style. One day it's crazy pants and heels, the next it's comfy boots and two pairs of socks on top of tights (yeah, it was a little chilly today). While I know it's good to have a particular style, one shouldn't force oneself into a certain type of clothing. This is why I love personal style: it can constantly be changed and no can really say anything about it because if you're always wearing what you want, nothing else matters. And today I want to wear comfy matchy matchy clothes and curl up with a book and not really worry too much about what I look like, and that is just fine.
Also, I was taking film photos and was trying to rewind my film because I finished the roll, and the film broke inside the camera. (ie. it came apart from the cartridge.) Does anyone know if I can still save the film, and if so, how would I remove it and protect it from sunlight? Thank you in advance. (I'm pretty bummed that it broke because that roll was filled with graduation pictures. :( )
I encourage (beg!) you to donate to the Batonga Foundation, which supports girls in Africa by giving them a full education. You can read more about it here! Every little bit helps and there are just a few days left! It doesn't matter if it's $5 or $500, the important thing is that you give to help a girl in need. (hahaha tugging at your heartstrings! But seriously, this is the whole reason why I'm wearing this dress for 30 days. :D )
Thank you and have an awesome day!

As I was sitting down to eat lunch and catch up on my favorite blogs, my brother came in and set a picked dandelion on my computer. After asking him why he did such a thing, he replied, "Because you're artistic ... and stuff." Then he turned and walked out of the room. Despite the odd encounter, dandelions can mean one thing: summer! And as a matter of fact, when I trekked through the yard to go take photos, dandelions were beginning to peek through the fresh grass.
I don't know what it is about Alaska. Maybe it's the pine trees or the ocean air or the fresh moose poop (okay that one is a joke), but this place smells so good! The moment they invent scratch-and-sniff over the internet, I'll send you guys a sample of what it smells like. If you've ever read Sound and Fury, this place smells like trees, untainted by humans. It's like holy ground teeming with insects and creatures. I just love it so much.
