the greatest dream ever dreamt

day 259

Today our adventure took us to an apple orchard for a photoshoot and to participate in a university-wide olympic game. (By the way, our team won.) I'm too tired to write about today in great detail like I usually do, but know that I am happy and I love my friends and my life.

friday nights

day 258

My night was filled with golden sunlight, painting nails, and talking well into the morning.

spring in my step

shirt: forever 21 // dress: from ivy // shoes: famous footwear

Here is another piece of clothing borrowed from my friend Ivy! This upcoming Saturday, my friends and I are doing some closet "shopping," where we go to everyone's closet and just look at all the clothes so that we know what people have to borrow from.

This is my friend Jenna! She took all the pictures of me. :) She is kind of awesome.

Oh thank the Lord it's Friday. The days always seem incredibly long, but then when the weekend rolls around it seems like the week just flew by. People warned me to enjoy my time at college because it goes by way too fast, and I am beginning to see that they are right. Can't believe I'm finishing my third week already, but at the same time I feel like I have been here forever.

I really loved this lady's bike. A lot of people ride bikes (and scooters) around campus and they are all so cute! It really makes me want to get a cute bike and ride it around everywhere. But we all know how physically active I am. ;)

Have a great day everyone!

to be set free

day 257

Here is my gorgeous friend Rebekah! While we were on a walk we found a fun house (part of the college, so it wasn't some random person's house) and decided to take pictures! This is definitely how I've been feeling--finally living on my own and being able to fly just a little bit.

Today was my very first newspaper meeting! I got a job as a copy editor, which means I get the first round of editing for all the Arts/Culture/Feature articles and the Opinion articles, aka a whole ton of reading. But I am incredibly excited about it. I even get to write my own article about, guess what ... fall fashion! Once the article comes out, I'll post it for your guys. :)

Here is a random photo of Bekah posing with my pillow pet and hat. :3

And with that, I hope you have a great day!

something borrowed

romper: from ivy // belt: thrifted

One of the glorious things about having roommates? You have nine more closets to choose from! My friends are all so cute and fashionable, so it's been fun sharing each other's clothes. This romper is my friend Ivy's, and it is perfect for a hot day when you want to look cute but also want to wear as few clothes as possible. Of course there's more to friendship than just sharing clothes, that's just one of the perks. ;)

So I really hate taking photos of myself in front of people. As in, I WILL NOT take pictures if there are people around (unless I have a friend with me, then it's a bit easier). This river is right on campus, but I had never seen anybody walk on the trails above it, so I figured I would be safe from any human eyes. Well, right in the middle of me taking pictures of myself, I hear a noise. I turn, and there above me on the trail, comes a giant group of people running. I died you guys. There I was, standing in the water with a tripod and camera pointed towards me, in full view of all these people. I stayed really still, hoping they wouldn't notice the strange girl taking pictures of herself, but of course right before they were hidden by trees again one of the guys in the group yelled, "Look at that crazy girl in the water!" Yep, I am crazy. But I love it.

Then when I was almost done, I thought I heard them running by again, and I never ran so fast in my life.

Looking back, it is a really hilarious story, but at the time I was so petrified and embarrassed.

On a different note, now that my hair is getting longer (can't believe I cut all my hair off less than two years ago), I've been looking at different ways to style it. And I've especially been having fun with it now that my hair has purple in it. Thank goodness pinterest is there for me to have tons of hair tutorials! And soon my hair will get even longer and I'll be able to do all sorts of crazy things with it.

Well I'm off to start another day, hope yours is awesome!

falling for you

day 256

I have just returned from rock climbing with my RA, Cortney, and oh my gosh I had so much fun. I used to rock climb with my family when I was in third and fourth grade and haven't done it since, so I was a little nervous before doing it tonight. The rock gym (it's actually in the back of a giant closet, which makes me feel like a spy because I never would have thought it was back there) is brand new, so it was built just in time for little Lauren, because I have to work out three times a week for my fitness class anyways. And man, I had a blast. I'm definitely not very good yet; I climbed three times and only made it to the top of two. But I'm hoping to go often with Cortney and maybe get some of the other girls on my floor to do it too, because it is seriously a blast.

And after everyone else left, Connor (Cortney's friend) tied two of the ropes from opposite walls together and made a swing for Cortney and me! It was a blast. I really actually love getting to hang out with upperclassmen (my ceramics class and my set job all have upperclassmen), because not only does it make me feel cool (haha lawl I'm such a nerd) but it's great to have older people to look up to.

But back to the rock climbing thing, I am super excited for it. My arms and legs are going to be so sore tomorrow though! Also tomorrow, Annette and I are housing prospective students in our room, so I may or may not be able to post anything (it's not like I skip nights posting anyways), but just to let you guys know. Basically, I am excited about everything.

separation anxiety

day 255

(view here.)

I find myself being thankful that my family moved around a lot, and also that I didn't have many friends, because it has made the transition to college so easy. I absolutely adore having friends that care for me and that I care for in return; I love getting to be responsible and doing my own laundry and going to work and decorating my room; I love being able to do crazy things like dye my hair different colors and walk around town and stay up till midnight watching episodes of Community on a laptop that's perched on a chair in the middle of our dorm room surrounded by friends. I love having an insane little fish friend at my desk and a plant of forget-me-nots growing in the windowsill. I even love going to class where the professors are excited about what they're teaching, which in turn makes me excited, even if I don't really care for psychology or math (and I might mention that I also love not getting busy work).

I'm obligated to say I miss my family (haha sorry Mom and Dad!), but it's not like I or they have disappeared off the face of the earth. I'm not sad that I'm away from them, but I am excited when I get to see them again. The same goes for Matt, only (and again, sorry Mom and Dad) I do miss him a lot. I just try not to think about not being able to see him every day, but think about how many days left until I do get to see him (and for the record, it's 72!). We text and video chat when we can, and that makes things easier. But I do miss seeing him face to face, going on dates, holding his hand. It's not a sad sort of missing though (I did enough crying the first two weeks of school), but happy. I don't know, it's kind of hard to describe. It's like I hate not being with him physically, but I know that it's just a little while until I will be again. I'm beginning to ramble anyways.

I am so excited about both of us though. I'm happy to report that we both have friends and are both loving college, and I don't think I would have it any other way. They say distance makes the heart grow fonder, and my love for him only grows every day. I am so unbelievably proud of him and I am so proud to be his girlfriend.

evening glow

day 254

My Mondays consist of waking up, making hot chocolate, and then going to lunch and classes. What I love about college is that you don't have seven classes in a day and you get to have breaks in between them. It makes the days longer and more productive. I don't feel overwhelmed at the end of the day with homework like I did in high school, simply because I've had time to process each class after it happened and I can even get homework done in between classes. It's a really wonderful feeling.

Today Rebekah, Ivy, and I took a little walk, enjoying the cute houses and chasing light around. All of my friends are so beautiful and precious; I just love spending time with them (and taking pictures of them too!).

Neon Lights

shirt/dress/shoes: target

Totally didn't plan on wearing a Target themed outfit. I have just a handful of stores I shop at, so it was just a matter of time before an outfit was made up of everything from one store.

I've been doing everything I can to sweat as little as possible. Seriously, why is it so hot? I'm sure everyone is annoyed by me complaining about the heat, so I've been keeping it to a minimum, but man, I am ready for the rainy weather. Just my cup of tea.

Have an awesome day everyone!
