putting up Christmas decorations // driving down the Oregon roads // viewing cool art at galleries // painting for class // petting the cutest puppy in the world // being fancy with the most handsome guy
Sorry things have been pretty quiet around here for the past couple of days. It's been a busy week, with not being able to go to bed until four in the morning most nights, thanks to the overwhelming amounts of final projects. But as you can see from my latest instagram photos, it certainly has not been without some good times! I have survived though, my sleep schedule is back to normal, and now there is just one more week of finals between me and Christmas break.
I hope you all have a wonderful week!

I won $50 by correctly guessing the murderer and getting my name pulled out of a hat. // Going on a date with Matt to the Switchfoot concert. Drew threw him his guitar pick at the end of the show. // Receiving my new sketchbook in the mail. I've been drawing in it constantly. // Sketching Thom Yorke. One of my favorite drawings yet! // The best, safest, most wonderful place in the entire world--in your arms. // Building a fort in our apartment! Hilarious telestrations followed. // Finishing up a photoshoot that included glitter, a fog machine, and lots and lots of flour! So excited for the results!
You can follow the adventure on instagram @impulsings.
This is over the span of two weeks since I forgot to post anything last Sunday.
1. Took some photobooth photos for my school. It was actually pretty easy and fun to hang out with so many students!
2. Dressed up as a zebra at the last minute for Halloween! I'm dreaming up big ideas for next year's Halloween though.
3. Late night food runs with Matt. I may be getting fat from all the fast food, but I love getting to spend time with him.
4. Took a tour of the largest photography studio on the West coast. Please let me work here!
5. Went on a photo adventure and modeled for my friend. Can't wait to see the results of it!
6. Was published in the November issue of Clubhouse Junior Magazine! I took these photos over the beginning of the summer and had to keep it a secret, but I'm really excited to finally be able to tell people about it. My mom is sending me a copy of it so I'll make a proper post when that arrives.
7. Had a little GNO and ate sushi for the first time. It's definitely an acquired taste that I have not acquired yet. But I did really enjoy the mushroom wrapped in salmon (?) with fried batter around it (or at least it was some sort of batter thing). That was delicious!
Other things that happened:
I took photos of the soccer teams for the yearbook. It was a totally new experience that I was really nervous for, but it ended up being pretty awesome! This week I'm gonna try to take our new football team's group photo ... wish little Lauren luck while she's surrounded by big football type people!
Discovered the game Plague Inc.. I finally successfully killed the entire human race with Stupidity! (That was the name of my disease, hehe.)
Played spy games and mafia with the guys on our floor again! Twas an incredibly fun evening. It is always the highlight of my week.
And yesterday I got to spend all day with Matt, just chilling out, watching youtube videos, talking with each other, and getting to do a skype AMA with his friends from his old college. Sooo much fun.
And of course I watched the latest episode of Top Model. Uuuuuugh why do they always make us wait until the next week? I'm seriously dying over here. Also the last Korra episode was spot on. The writers are seriously doing an awesome job adding more elements of the spirit world into the series, which makes me happy.
Hope you had a really super awesome week as well.
1 + 2 // It has been super foggy these past few mornings, and I've been in love with (if not completely cold in) them.
3 // Went on a coffee date with Matt. It was nice to walk around town a little bit and see autumn in full swing.
4 // Have been and still am geeking out over the two latest Korra episodes. Ugh. They are seriously so good I can't even stand it. I need someone to freak out with me about how freaking awesome they were. I've already watched both of them multiple times, that's how good they are.
5 // Le drawing from my drawing class. Not one of my favorite drawings, but definitely one of my favorite classes.
Other things that happened this week:
A. Getting zero rest because I finished two graphic design projects that were due on the same day.
B. Eating Thai food for dinner and accidentally eating octopus.
C. Playing spy games in the dark with the guys on our floor until two in the morning--best way to spend two dollars (for glowsticks) and a Saturday night.
Hope you had a great week!
My face after learning that my time as an intern has paid off ... a cell phone company purchased a stock photo of me laughing on a cell phone. Gotta love stock photos. //
A trip to the Portland Art Museum. I could spend all day in that place. There were so many beautiful and interesting pieces. //
A foggy Oregon morning. Even when covered in clouds, this place is still absolutely gorgeous. //
The woes of being left handed. I get charcoal all over my hand. //
Got to pet animals! Matt and I went to a friend's house for dinner and I finally got my furry fix. //
Late night fast food runs, which usually includes some fun music to sing to, a sun roof, and a pretty moon. //
Goats at the Pumpkin Patch! They were soo cuuute! //
Cows during the drive. It took everything in me to refrain from playing the cow game. //
This has been a very good week.
poetry reading // video game playing // yearbook meeting // concert photographing
This week has been pretty low key as I have been sick (and missed two days of school) + we all got a day off of school. But in between meetings and events, things have still managed to stay busy.
through instagram photos.
This past weekend I got to hang out with 60+ crazy art people along the coast of Oregon. Especially since I've been too busy with school to shoot anything creative, I was extremely excited for the break to produce some new artwork. Despite getting sick with that nasty cold/throat thing that always happens around this time of year, I was still able to hang out on the beach literally from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, shooting concepts, assisting on photoshoots, and hanging out with people. On Sunday we went gallery and antique store hopping, which, even though I was too sick to fully enjoy, was still neat to look at art and dig through piles of antiques to find a couple treasures.

My love and connection to the ocean only grows and grows, and my desire to submerge myself into nature and creating and being surrounded by the beauty of the world grows as well. I've been thinking a lot about myself, who I am, and what I want to do with my life. For me and any other creatives out there, the desire to travel and create is very great, and I'm constantly wanting to be rid of extra things that distract me. Of course, actually getting rid of those distractions is a different story, so I'm thankful for weekends such as this one to eliminate anything that would hinder my desires, at least for a little bit of time.

But now I'm back in the real world. I skipped classes yesterday because of being sick, so it was a nice way to vacation from my vacation (funny how that works). Some of the images I got I'm really excited about, and I can't wait to work on them and release them when the proper time comes. After going to the beach, I realized how needed it actually was. There's just something about being surrounded by the ocean and creative people that's rejuvenating, and it's also nice to know that I can feel completely comfortable around people that I barely know, and just after a weekend call them my friends.

It is good to be back home though (where there is soup and medicine and a bed with minimal sand in it), and I am so thankful the ocean is close and my beautiful Oregon family is even closer.
1. Bought beautiful sunflowers for our kitchen table.
2. Took photos during the gorgeous golden hour on a busy street.
3. Went to a drive in and saw Pacific Rim (fantastic movie!).
4. Got to hang out with a crazy guy.
5. Found little leaf skeletons (a sure sign of fall!).
6. Awesome art installations by artist Ryan Beard. Be sure to check him out!
How was your week? What was the most memorable thing you did?
Hello you beautiful people! Long time no see! I successfully finished my first week of school, and will hopefully get on a normal schedule so that daily blogging can be resumed. In the meantime, please enjoy these instagram photos from the past two weeks. I finally got a cell phone again, so the my week in instagram posts have been revived!
1. Matt's brand new BMW. It's a chick magnet for sure and I love riding around in it with the sun roof open and awesome music playing.
2. Finally got to meet little fluffy Dusty. Such a cute little pup!
3. The beeeautiful Oregon road. I love the miles and miles of farmland.
4. Playing monopoly! We have our own rules because monopoly isn't long enough as it is.
5. A cute little kitty I spotted lounging outside on a warm day.
6. Matt was super helpful in helping me unpack. He liked hiding in random places, under the bed being the perfect spot to freak me out.
7. PUUURPLE HAIR!
8. Cutting up some yummy potatoes for dinner. I've literally eaten like twelve potatoes in the past three days.
9. My roommate's decorations. She's hilarious.
10. The color run, round two! (Post to come!)
How was your week? I hope it was fantastic!

week long camp adventures
My instagram (@impulsings) was taken over for the most part with day camp excursions, as I wanted to do a fun instagram thing on the website, but I did manage to get in a couple noncamp photos in! (random: I can't upload to pictures from my house aka where I spend 99% of my day, so if I ever want to instagram, I have to be down the mountain and we all know how often I go out ...)
Other things that happened this week:
1. My life was taken over by taking and processing photos, so I didn't do much else except eat and sleep.
2. Except that's not completely true, because late into the night I've been reading again! It's a slow pace, but I'm glad to be doing it.
3. Matt bought me an awesome computer game called To The Moon, that I started and finished on Saturday night. Ugh. I cried so much. So. Much. It's such a good story.
4. I got to go see Tim Hawkins in concert! I got to see him two years ago with Matt, and it was great to see him again. (Also, you should click on the link, because that blog/photos (ie my photography) are hilarious/cringe worthy. And incredibly short lived. Oy. But fun to look back on.)
5. Endless browsing on modcloth for things to decorate my future apartment I'll be living in with my friends in just a month and a half ... I'm so excited! It's going to be the single cutest apartment in the history of cuteness and apartments. I'm SO excited to be with my friends again and be in Oregon again. Counting down the days!
Hope you had a great week! It's been an incredibly long one for me, but fun. I took a week off from my internship for camp, and it feels like I've been gone for months. Well, it's back to the daily grind for this girl! If you can count web design and photoshoot adventures daily grinds.

What's up everyone! Sorry it's been so quiet around here (at least, it feels that way to me). I've been busy running around, acting like a tourist in my own city, which is one of my favorite things to do. I actually shot a lot more dslr photos than instagram photos, mostly because I didn't have reception a lot of the places I went and therefore didn't bother with taking cell phone pictures. But I can't wait to share with you guys the pictures (and videos!) I did take.
Other things that happened this week:
1. Bought a camera bag! After so many years without one, and just stuffing my cameras and lenses into a too small purse (or carrying multiple purses around), I finally bought a camera bag, which I received in the mail today. So exciting!
2. Listened to mixtapes on 8tracks.com. My favorite thing currently.
3. Went on a date with Matt! We dressed up all fancy and he took me to a fancy restaurant. They even offered us wine--something that never happens to me, but always happens to him. Newsflash, I'm older than him. But being the law-abiding citizens that we were, we opted for water.
4. Went sledding. Yep, in July. We gathered quite the crowd at the base of the glacier while we screamed down the ice and snow on our sleds. It was blissful.
Hope your week was fantastic!
laying outside with friends // sunny days in Oregon // the dorm room being overrun with boxes // triple "s" award // my roommate pretending to be me // last darkroom print of the semester // first dutch bros // my favorite stretch of road // graffiti to commemorate our first year // finally back in Alaska // back of camera preview for a magazine // filing old Iditarod film slides // getting ready for spring // superman kitty // baby sled dog puppy // watching my boss take photos of Martin Buser and fans
Since getting out of college I kind of fell behind on my weekly instagram posts, so here are some of the highlights of the past few weeks. You can always follow my adventures @impulsings but since being back in Alaska they've been kind of slow thanks to poor reception. Good ol' cell phone coverage.
Have a great day everyone!
