fashion shoot // josi

A week ago I got to do a really fun photoshoot the the beautiful Josi! She is a fashion major and has a great sense of style, and I've been wanting to photograph her for a while. For my photography class, our weekly prompt was "at wit's end", which I interpreted as a quirky, grungy location since I really wanted to do a fashion shoot. At Wit's End, the people are really cool and like to match their environment, so Josi and I shot with colors in mind (specifically different hair colors), and I think they turned out quite nicely. This is certainly a bit different from what I usually do, simply because I haven't done a shoot that was exclusively fashion before (I mean, I've done senior shoots, which are pretty similar, and after doing this shoot I will definitely incorporate some things I learned into those). It was incredibly fun to hang out with Josi and make some cool images together!

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

to the pumpkin patch

A couple weekends ago, my friends and I woke up bright and early and hopped in the car to spend the day at the pumpkin patch! This year we headed out to Bauman Farms, which is in Gervais, Oregon. It was a perfect day, with gorgeous fog the entire drive, until we finally broke free of it when the farm came in sight. Going early in the morning is really the way to go if you want to attend Bauman Farms, because when we left around 2 pm, there was a long line of cars in both directions waiting to turn into the grassy parking lot.

Not only can you pick the perfect pumpkin there (I got a cute warty one which I turned into a kitty cat), but there's also a corn maze, a dark hay maze (which is pitch black and has tunnels as well as pathways. My friends and I were probably in there for at least half an hour trying to find our way out), a hay obstacle course, apple cannons and apple slingshots and apple tasting, tons of food, tractor rides, a petting zoo, giant slides, and beautiful gardens. It really feels like a fair while you're there. There are so many fun things to do, and a person can easily spend all day there.

p.s. you can check out last year's pumpkin patch adventures here!

thunder and lightning

shirt: c/o sugarlips (old) // dress: thrifted // hat: forever 21 // tights: diy // rainboots: gift

Remember on instagram about a month ago when I was oogling over the most gorgeous rainboots ever? Well surprise surprise, Matt bought them for me as a two and a half year anniversary present! So of course at even the slightest hint of rain, the boots came out and they fit perfectly on my feet. (Some random guy even came up to me and said, "I love your boots! They are so adorable!" I don't think I've ever heard a guy say "adorable" without being sarcastic, so I found it really funny.) I have never found a pair of rainboots that I actually like. Some people can pull off the whole fishing-boot style thing that comprises 99% of the rainboot shape, but I cannot, and figured I would never find a pair. But low and behold, an ankle boot, pointed toe pair of boots with a bow, no less, is in existence! I'm so in love with these boots I can't even handle it.

Of course, right as these photos were taken, it started pouring down rain and thundering and lightning. I wasn't annoyed though, because I haven't heard thunder in real life in years and it's probably one of the most beautiful sounds, especially when you're falling asleep. With the rain pouring down and thunder rolling in the distance, you're just cuddled up in a nice warm blanket. Unfortunately, the heat is back now, and tomorrow it's supposed to be 98 degrees (uuuuugh kill me now), so I'm constantly doing homework in front of the fan with the minimal amount of clothing while the fan is on at full blast. Needless to say, I am more than ready for fall.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

2013 Senior: Lynsie

On a sunny weekend day, this stunning girl and I got to make some fun photos together! Lynsie is such a natural beauty, with the most gorgeous eyes and killer eyebrows (I'm so jealous!); it was so easy to photograph her! I loved being able to hang out with her and explore the beach and enjoy the last bit of summer in Alaska.

the color run, round two

Saturday my friends and I drove to Portland to do the color run! This was my second time doing a color run, and it was way too much fun. This time around I opted not to bring my actual camera, so these are just iphone photos, but they turned out pretty good and I got some footage I wouldn't have dared to try to get with my dslr (I saw one guy carrying his around and it was covered in pink colors, and I just cringed for that poor camera). It was so awesome being able to do it with the most amazing girls in the entire world. I love my best friends!!

my week in instagram #54

Hello you beautiful people! Long time no see! I successfully finished my first week of school, and will hopefully get on a normal schedule so that daily blogging can be resumed. In the meantime, please enjoy these instagram photos from the past two weeks. I finally got a cell phone again, so the my week in instagram posts have been revived!

1. Matt's brand new BMW. It's a chick magnet for sure and I love riding around in it with the sun roof open and awesome music playing.
2. Finally got to meet little fluffy Dusty. Such a cute little pup!
3. The beeeautiful Oregon road. I love the miles and miles of farmland.
4. Playing monopoly! We have our own rules because monopoly isn't long enough as it is.
5. A cute little kitty I spotted lounging outside on a warm day.
6. Matt was super helpful in helping me unpack. He liked hiding in random places, under the bed being the perfect spot to freak me out.
7. PUUURPLE HAIR!
8. Cutting up some yummy potatoes for dinner. I've literally eaten like twelve potatoes in the past three days.
9. My roommate's decorations. She's hilarious.
10. The color run, round two! (Post to come!)

How was your week? I hope it was fantastic!

film friday: this is oregon

THIS IS OREGON from Shwood Eyewear on Vimeo.

In honor of me flying back to the beautiful state of Oregon on Sunday, I thought it would be appropriate to show this video. Oregon is seriously so gorgeous and I love that it only takes a little bit of time to drive out and suddenly be completely immersed in nature. I think it's one of the most beautiful places on earth. If you have time, I highly recommend going to their website (thisisor.com) and checking out the photos, and would even more highly recommend actually going to Oregon and exploring all it has to offer.
