WISH

shorts: thrifted // shirt: forever 21 // shoes: famous footwear // hair comb: diy

Told you I'd be wearing these shorts nonstop. They're just so comfy I never want to take them off! And the days getting warmer and warmer just give me an even better argument as to why I should wear them constantly.

The main reason I bought these shoes was because I found myself at the mall in heels, and since I didn't really feel like wearing fancy shoes and thought I had a lot more money than I actually have, I bought the yellow beauties. The other reason I bought them was because I actually don't own any nice sandals. All my other pairs are falling apart so my purchase was justified. Plus, they're so adorable!

the crowning moment

day 168

It was a very exciting day today; I finally got to shoot with Miss and Miss Teen Alaska United States!! A couple months ago they asked me to take some photos of them for their website as well as for autograph cards and anything else, and we finally got to take some photos today! The weather was perfect, there was no one in our photoshoot location (inside, at least), and it was really just a fun time getting to explore around the city. We all discovered some awesome places we didn't even know existed. In the upcoming weeks I'll post some of my favorite shots from this shoot, but as you all know (I only mention it all the time, haha), next week is my first wedding! It's going to be busy busy and I cannot wait.

I was thinking earlier today that the only photography highlights of my summer were going to be this Miss United States shoot and the wedding, but actually I have another big photography thing up my sleeve. I need to start nailing down the details of it, but hopefully it will come to fruition because it's gonna be awesome. (Hehe don't you just love me being all secretive? Never fear, all shall be revealed in time.)

diy hair comb

You read that right! I've got a simple diy project to share with you today. I find myself wearing this hair comb all the time. It's perfect for pinning those baby hairs up and still staying cute.

All you'll need is a comb and some ribbon or yarn, as well as a hot glue gun. The comb was leftover from one of my many high school productions (it still smells a bit like hairspray and stage lights). Previously I had used some fuzzy yarn, the cool kind that changes color, but I didn't quite like the colors it had so I decided to go with some fun ribbon! You can use as many or as few colors as you like. For this tutorial I'll use three, but know that if you only use one color, you'll only need one string of it tied to your comb.

Step one: tie string. Skipping the first notch (aka hole) of your comb, tie the various colors on the second, third, and fourth notch.

Step two: weave. You're going to be working backwards for just a bit. You'll weave the blue string (on the second notch) on the first notch, the white string (on the third notch) on the third notch, and so on. Then after that it's time to move forward.

It reminds me a lot of making friendship bracelets, where you bring the strings that you're not currently weaving off to the side. Continue to do this until you reach the end of your comb.

Step three: tie and glue. Just tie the string together (I suggest tying the blue to the white and then the white to the green, so that all three colors are secure), and then reinforce with hot glue. (You can also hot glue the beginning if you notice the string is a little loose.)

And there you have it! A beautiful new hair accessory I guarantee you'll be wearing non-stop.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Land Locked

day 167

Big thanks to Josiah for modeling for me! He's had to do the craziest thing for this project so far, I do believe.

Photography just makes me so happy. Knowing that I'm going to a photoshoot, and driving home from an awesome photoshoot knowing I got some great shots makes me unbelievably satisfied. Someone should remind me when I'm in a bad mood that I need to get off my butt and take pictures.

Later today I'm babysitting and then tomorrow I have another shoot (and let me tell you, it's gonna be awesome!) and then next week is my first wedding!
