don't slow down

day 183

Some kids sneak out of their house at night to go to parties and do drugs, my brother and I sneak out to take pictures in the driveway. Just remember that Dad when you learn that William and I took pictures by the light of the car's hazard lights.

I had tried to take a nap today because of a nasty headache, and of course when I woke up it was 11:30pm. I've always wanted to take photos using the headlights of a car, but being scared that turning on the car would wake up my parents (especially when their bedroom window was open ... thanks a lot Daddy. ;) ), I just used the hazard lights. William came out with me for moral support (aka I wanted a witness if a bear attacked me), and when self portraits weren't coming out like I had planned, William sat in front of the light and we ended up with the image above.

I do want to revisit this idea again sometime, so Daddy, if you ever wake up to the sound of the car engine running, don't worry. It's just me being a rebel child and taking pictures at night.

my week in instagram #6

waiting before a photoshoot // only the best coffee place ever // waiting to go watch Prometheus // a sleepy sleepy kitty on my arm // another kitty (I catsit this guy) // stopped at a little lemonade stand // Oscar ventured outside (we usually don't let him out because he eats the grass and then throws up) // finished building the firepit! // Matt and I sitting by the fire

Hope your week was fantastic!

this is the future

+ photos from the day

day 182

We built a new firepit in our backyard today and decided to try it out. The weather was perfect too. After nearly every day being rainy, the sun came out and so did the shorts and sunglasses.

(This was before I knew how hot it actually was outside.)

Matt got to come over for dinner, which I was super excited about. We ate freshly caught salmon and garlic mashed potatoes and watched funny youtube videos at the supper table.

(Kenai the dog got caught in the act of licking crumbs off the chair.)

(This is Matt's "Lauren quit taking photos of me" face. I can't help it though--he's just so cute!)

Afterwards we headed outside to jump on the trampoline and roast marshmallows.

I love Matt so much. He's my favorite person in the whole world and my best friend. And these photos make me super happy and smiley because we don't get too many photos together. So thank you Mommy for snapping these for us!

(This would have been my 365 photo for today if it weren't for the doggie in the background.)

It was a very awesome day and the perfect ending to a not-too-great week. I definitely needed this day.

Hope your weekend is going fantastically!

new design!

That's right! Introvert's Introduction got a facelift. In honor of my blog's six month birthday, I thought I would give it a much needed update. I may tweak this design a bit in the future, but for now I'm happy with it. There's a new contact page, prettier navigation, and a spotlight for any current giveaways I have going on.

This is what the blog looked like before. I loved this design, but began to feel like it was a little too depressing for me. So I went the exact opposite route of black and white.

Here's an image of my first sketch of the new design.

As you can see the final product is slightly different from the sketch, but I wanted to keep things nice and neat and not over-complicated (of course, the actual coding was a bit more time consuming than I had anticipated, but I fixed all the problems).

I hope you guys like the new design! Let me know what you think, if you have any suggestions or comments. I would love to hear them.

Have a great day!
