the smell of old books

day 252

Saturday my friends and I all explored around the town, hitting up the thrift stores and antique shops. I definitely spent much more money than I should have, but I definitely don't regret getting what I got.

Annette and Tabatha

(Thank the Lord for kitties on the sidewalk when I am deprived of my baby, Oscar.)

Ivy and Rebekah

Jenna

I know my posts have been few and far between, but I am still adjusting to having a social life and school, so bear with me. I do have some fun posts planned in the upcoming weeks ... it's just a matter of actually typing them out. Also I need to carry around my sketchbook again for 365 ideas. I don't really want to have documentation photos for the rest of the project. (These ramblings are just me thinking out loud.) Hope you guys have an awesome day!

day 251

hope

Sorry I haven't been posting. It's been a busy few days, trying to find the rhythm of things and working on a good schedule. But I think I'm good now.

Yesterday we found a sad little hummingbird and we tried to heal her, but sadly an hour after we found her she died. :( But she was still super cute.

diy earring holder

The other day I was visiting my friend Marina's dorm, and she had the coolest earring holder ever. My favorite part about it? She made it! She had used a clothes hanger and lace fabric to make it, and I thought it would be really easy to create my own version of it. This project is super easy. It only takes about fifteen minutes and only cost me $1. The frame I got from a thrift store and I had the rest of the materials lying around my dorm room.

Materials: hot glue gun, lace ribbon (or fabric), a picture frame, and scissors.

Step one: You need to remove the back and the glass from the frame. You won't need it for the project, so I have my glass tucked away waiting to be used for some other diy.

Step two: cut the lace and lay it out on the frame. You'll want to make sure the lace is actually long enough to glue onto the frame, and that you have enough pieces.

Step three: hot glue. Mark where your lace ends so that you can hot glue only where you need to. Glue one side first. Then glue the other, pulling the lace tightly so that it doesn't sag.

Step four: hang your earrings! When the glue is dry, you can hang up your earrings for proud display.

And that's all! Now you have a fancy earring holder that you can brag to all your friends about.

If you guys make this, you should totally email me a picture of it so that I can feature it on the blog!

morning light

shirt: garage sale // skirt: forever 21 // shoes: thrifted + diy

The most beautiful light comes into my dorm room every morning, which is perfect when I have to wake up early for classes.

I bought this shirt at a garage sale on this day from the purple house in my Alaskan neighborhood, so it is undeniably a grandma shirt. I think if I ever get around to it, I'll cut the sleeves off and take it in so that it actually fits me, but for now I'll just awe at its beautiful collar.

Hope you all have a marvelous day!

p.s. I was interviewed by Leanna over on Singing in the Treetops. Go check it out!
