Magician's Nephew

day 9

Blarg. I don't like this. But thanks to Matthew for modeling for me.

I got some exciting news today.

1. My homecoming dress shipped out! (I've been complaining about this on tumblr a lot.)
2. I was selected to participate in my college's scholarship competition! I am so excited and nervous for this one as I will be traveling down to see my college for the first time as well as meeting my fellow students. Eek!

training grounds

day 8

Thank you to my mommy for pushing the button n my camera for me and to my brother for helping me with the manual focus. Surprisingly, I wasn't cold for this photo, save my fingers. But my fingers always get cold. I had this idea in my head right before I went to bed last night and since I woke up thinking about it, I knew it had to be done! Yes, my mother said I was crazy for running around in the snow with a bathing suit on ... but she should have known if anyone would do something like that, it would be me!

Everyone came outside to play in the snow while it was falling, and my my my there was a ton! I have never seen so much snow in my life. Ah, it makes me feel like a little kid again.

Eventually, my brothers and I decided to dig tunnels in the snow. I can remember when I was a little kid making little houses underneath the snow, and now that I'm older--well that means I can move more snow! Currently we all can hide completely in our respective tunnels and we're planning on expanding the underground network to include big common areas and more tunnels that branch from them. I just hope a rabbit doesn't hop into our holes ... or worse, a moose stepping in the ceiling!

Don't you think it's quiet around here?

Outfit: Cardigan from Target? // Shirt Dress from Urban Outfitters // Tights from Walmart // Shoes from Target // Earrings from Noble Town Vinatge

For Christmas I requested an urban outfitters giftcard, simply because I had never shopped there before. Now I know why! Their items are pretty expensive, but I was very pleasantly surprised when I tried on my purchases. I got this shirt dress and another dress and they are so beautiful! If I ever win the lottery or come across a million dollars or something, urban outfitters will be at the top of my list of places to shop at. Plus, they have free shipping to Alaska, which is pretty much unheard of.

Apparently, we're about to beat the current state record for amount of snowfall, which isn't surprising because the snow is nearly as tall as I am! But I'm not complaining, the snow is so fun to play in. Later today my family is all going to put on our snow gear and play around in it. Time to put on my boots and snow pants!

lights

Just a simple photo for today, because Matt and I went on a date! Every year the zoo puts up Christmas lights and plays Christmas music. I had been wanting to go, so Matt and I finally went!

It snowed so much today. Even with two layers of clothing Matt and I were still cold. But walking through the zoo with snow falling and lights strung in the trees and animals braving the weather made it worth it. (So did holding hands with a cute boy.)

I told Matt we would have to come back during the summer so we could see more animals. Most of them were gone for the winter, but a few were still out, like llamas and seals and eagles and wolves!

After we could stand the cold no longer, Matt and I headed to the mall for food and arcade games. Ever since our teacher told us about the arcade, Matt and I have tried to make it a tradition to go every Saturday.

There's a funny story that goes with this picture. The escalator wasn't working, so while my oblivious self just walked up the steps, Matt stayed at the bottom and pretended to wait for it to start working again. Most people just looked at him funny (as did I), but he got one kid to laugh! It was so funny. Matt was quite proud he made someone smile.

Matt and I usually haunt three particular games at the arcade. After purchasing our handfuls of tokens, we head straight for the storm stopper machine. The first time I played it, I hit the jackpot! So we were determined to rack in hundreds of tickets again. Just when I was about to give up, Matt handed me one more token, I put it in ... and ding! Jackpot! We have a winner! Then it was on to the shark game, which is like whack-a-mole, but with sharks. It might be cheating with both of us playing at the same time, but hey, we get the high score. The third game is that one where you push the button and the bouncy ball drops and bounces into a hole. I tried it a couple of times and got a few tickets. And then I made Matt play it. He pushed the button and the bouncy ball went straight into the jackpot hole! Success! Another champion! Either Matt and I are really lucky, or we've got some serious skills. I think it's the latter.
Then finally Matt and I returned to my house to play some games and drink hot chocolate with my family. There was a lot of laughing and good times, and all in all it was a very successful day.
