DIY Camera Strap

A couple days ago I ran across a diy for homemade camera straps. This was a lifesaver because I've been trying to come up with a way to make a strap for my own little camera. Needless to say, my camera is now very happy.

You'll need some fun fabric, key rings (two big ones and two small ones--thankfully my camera already had small ones on them), a sewing machine, and buttons.

I usually try to steer away from measuring things (that's me being rebellious from hating Geometry class, haha), so I just made sure the length was good by throwing the fabric around my neck. Then I measured (aaah, can't escape it) the thickness I wanted and cut away! Now remember that your thickness should be double the thickness of what you want your strap to be because we're going to fold it and sew it together in the next step.

For this step you'll have to fold the fabric together like a hot dog (longways) with front sides together so that all you see is the back of the fabric. Then you'll sew along the edge, making sure to NOT sew the ends together.

Now that the fabric is sewed, I push the fabric right-side out so that the pretty side is showing.

Then you push in the edge of the fabric inside itself, fold the edges, and sew them together. I used blue for my top stitch so that it would show up in photos, but the bottom stitch (the one you'll be able to see when the strap is done) is the same color as the fabric.

Next string the key ring through the fabric and sew a button on to make it even more pretty! Alternatively you can just sew it all together when you sew the ends up in step five, but I love buttons so I wanted to use them to attach everything.

My grandma on my mom's side always bought buttons so now I have a tin box full of pretty vintage buttons to choose from.

Then you just attach the key rings to the camera! My camera's previous owner was so kind as leave the small key rings on the camera so all I had to do was connect them together.

And that is all!

I hope you all enjoyed this tutorial. Let me know if you create your own camera straps. I would love to see what everyone else comes up with. Good luck and have an awesome day!

Product Review: Moo.com

A couple weeks ago I ordered business cards from moo.com and I finally received them the other day! Let me just say this: wow. If you are ever in need of business cards, this is the place to go. The cards themselves are really thick, so they are durable, and they are recyclable too! I used my own design and the cards stayed true to the colors and whatnot. The back of my cards have all my contact info. It's cute too, but I forgot to take a photo!

It's going to be hard giving these away because I love them so much. I would say they are well worth the cost. I paid about $30 USD (shipping included) for 50 cards (I got doubles of each), and I used a discount I found by searching for coupon codes hehe. And the cards came in a recycled box which is also super cute and perfect to showcase them to customers.

I was having such a hard time working with Kinko's online to make posters because the CYMK (which is the color code they use to print) kept messing up my RGB color photos. So I finally gave up and ordered 8x10 photos from walgreens to serve as posters. SO. MUCH. BETTER. The colors are perfect and I have a nice glossy finish. I also got some 4x6s as well to put in my school's office.

I am seriously beyond excited about my business cards and I can't wait to order more!

standsunder

day 106

Today was a fun day hanging out with Matt's family. For those who follow me on instagram (which, since it's new to me I've been obsessed with it and taking photos practically every hour, sorry about that, haha) knew kind of what I was doing. So you all should follow meeee! @impulsings Instagram was one of the few apps I was mad that wasn't on Android, but now that it is I'm a happy bunny.

But anyways, I went to church with Matt's family, and during the service some guy proposed to his girlfriend! And would you know what? I started bawling! I probably embarrassed poor Matt because tears were streaming down my face. I guess that just shows how much of a hopeless romantic I am ... I cried more than the girl did! Oh goodness ...

After that we went to lunch then I "helped" Matt edit one of his videos. And by helped I completely mean watched because I'm not nearly smart enough to understand all that video stuff. Just goes to show how talented he is.

Other than that I haven't done much, but I have a diy about to be in the making as well as other fun things related to my photography (ie advertisements whoop whoop!). Life is pretty exciting at the moment and I'm just loving almost every bit of it.

Hope you all have a great week!

color my world

day 105

Not my usual editing style. I mostly just wanted to show off the giant crayon I got at the arcade today.

Matt and I ate at Miss Williams house with her and Mr. Benson and then went on a double date to the arcade. Matt and I crushed them, muahaha. It was a ton of fun.

Oh hey and I got instagram! My new phone came and that was the first app I downloaded. My username is impulsings so you should follow me! :D
