needle and thread

day 70

Today was very productive despite me being sick (with some weird unknown thing at the moment ... if it persists I may have to go to the doctor). I had intended to wake up early to watch the Northern Lights, but alas my alarm didn't go off! My mom said it wouldn't have mattered though; it had been cloudy even at three AM.

My whole day consisted of sewing. I sewed myself a skirt with some fabric Matt's mom gave me, as well as some pillows for my school's play. I'm not done with the pillows yet. They still need to be stuffed.

While I sewed, Oscar came and sat in my lap, played with some string, then fell asleep at my feet. He is just too cute!

^^ sneak peek of my skirt :D

Also I finished knitting Matt's scarf! It was seriously taller than me. Only took four weeks to make, haha. It was totally worth it though, it will keep his neck nice and warm! (And Matt, if you don't like the buttons, I can easily change them. :)

Hope your Saturday was productive as well! And don't forget to spring forward (urgh). Have an awesome day!

northern downpour

day 69

The Northern Lights have been crazy these past couple of days. I haven't seen them in so long ... I crawled into bed with my parents and it reminded me of when I was a little girl watching the lights. I remember one time distinctly, I was in forth grade, and my mom and I stood in our driveway in the cold and watched colors of green and red and purple dance across the sky. That night was the most magnificent I've ever seen them. Last night was really good (I took these photos after midnight so it totally counts as my 365 for today) but today was supposed to be the big show. Alaska is being rude and is letting clouds cover the entire sky! D: The forecast says it will be clear by 2 AM ... guess I'm getting up early.

The Northern Lights are just amazing. I hope everyone gets a chance to see them at least one time in person.

day 68

Finally up-to-date on my 365. Tonight's photo shall come later and it's going to be spectacular.

Call it what you want, call it old punk rock

shirt: c/o sugarlips // skirt: sister's closet // tights: diy // shoes: target

Look at this gorgeous top Sugarlips sent me!
IT. HAS. CATS. ON. IT.
If you don't know anything else about me, know this: I adore cats. When I was little I would buy tons of disposable cameras and take hundreds of photos of cats (I kid you not). There are two cats living in our house at the moment. I am planning on being a crazy cat lady when I grow up. That is how much I love cats. And now my love of them can be shown through this adorable shirt!

It kind of reminds me of a vintage bowling shirt with the way the pattern is confined to the sides, which is totally awesome. It's also made of a really soft material and has cool sleeves. I was really sad that it's not socially acceptable to wear the same shirt all week, because I wanted to wear it to school every day!

After seeing Annika's diy tights, I grabbed an old pair and started getting to work creating my own fun pattern! It was pretty easy, but if you're going to do it sitting down like I did, be sure to start at the ankles and work your way up--so much easier. And after I peeled off the tights, there were little marks of leftover red paint on my legs! It looked like I had the chicken pox, haha.

Well it's finally spring break, and I for one and super relieved. There's a ton of things I've been needing to do and just not enough time to do it. You know how that is, school taking up time you could be using to do things you're actually going to do for the rest of your life ... anybody else feel that way? Ah well. I guess there's some benefit to school somehow. Only one more semester until I graduate!

Thank you all so much for your support. It really means the world to me. And I'd love to get to know you guys! Maybe I'll come up with a reader interview thingie thing ... ooh that sounds like fun. Anyways, have an awesome weekend!
