wedding, wedding, wedding

1/2/3/4/5/6/7

In honor of my very first wedding shoot, I thought I'd post some photos of other people's weddings. Being the hopeless romantic that I am, I could spend hours looking through lookbooks of weddings, dresses, cakes, rings, anything. Though that may be a bad thing with my overactive imagination, it's perfect to learn the right way to shoot a wedding. Pay attention to lighting, don't be afraid to take close up shots, and look for creative angles. Even though these photos may not be my exact style, they all have things I can pull inspiration and lessons from.

On a completely unrelated note, I got a pinterest the other day and have no idea how to use it. My username is impulsings if you want to follow along.

impossible possibilities

day 171

Now I remember why I don't like crazy edits. This was ridiculously hard and I still don't like the way it turned out, but I'm glad I stuck through and got a complete image produced.

This is based off of my painting that I did my junior year in AP Art. It was part of a series entitled "Impossible Possibilities." I think painting them in real life instead of on photoshop is much much easier.

As for what I did today, it was off to babysitting again. My kids and I played outside for nearly the entire time, riding bikes, drawing with sidewalk chalk, playing basketball, jumping on the trampoline, even having a water balloon fight! It was probably the most fun thing I've done all summer. And the weather is hot enough to do fun water activities (yeah, I seriously do comment about the weather every. single. post.). Then it was off to a quick photoshoot with Marquel (the bride-to-be this Saturday!!) and then I got to watch a movie with Matt! He, his brother, his friend, and I all watched The Tree of Life. It reminded me a lot of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Definitely a movie I need to watch a couple more times to process everything that happened.

Oh and one more thing, I finally know who my roommate is in college! Her name is Annette and I'm so excited to be going through a brand new chapter of life with her. I can't wait to introduce you guys to her!

Anyways, I hope you have a great day!

the sky was crying and I stood and watched

day 170

Today was another bright and sunny day, filled with weddings and evening showers and rainbows and even a hail shower (that never happens in Alaska). I went outside at 10:30pm to take these photos after sitting on the couch for way too long. I got soaking wet from the rain and probably acquired a ton of mosquito bites (and possibly a cold) but it smelled so nice outside I guess I don't mind.

PHOTOSHOOT

shirt/jeans: thrifted // cardigan: gift // shoes: thrifted/diy

I wanted to show you guys a typical outfit I would wear to a photoshoot, so after my shoot with Josiah I snapped a few photos while lawn workers looked on from the field down below. Of course I saved the jumping pictures until after they left, but aren't you proud of me for taking photos of myself in front of people?

For photoshoots, I always wear something simple and comfortable. I want to look somewhat presentable, especially when I'm in public with a client, just in case a random pedestrian asks what we're doing. Then I can whip out a business card like a spy and attack them with my business. Aaaww yeeeah.

Funny story about these jeans. I believe that very, very, very few people can pull of wearing leggings as pants. The same goes with jeggings. I was not going to come within one hundred feet of those things. ... Fast forward to a couple weeks ago when I found myself at the thrift store in desperate need of a new pair of jeans. I found this awesome pair and immediately got it. Little did I know what I had purchased. I began to suspect I had bought jeggings when I discovered the front pockets were fake. After looking at the tag and seeing the size was XL, my suspicions came together. I, Lauren, now own a pair of jeggings. And I'm not afraid to say that they are the most comfortable things on the planet.

I hope you have a very awesome day!

p.s. photobucket isn't working so I'll try to get my 365 photos up tomorrow
