where's winter?

shirt: mom's closet // shorts: thrifted // bow: from tabatha

Anchorage is supposed to get its first snowfall this weekend, and here I am still sweating in shorts and a t-shirt. I am not the biggest fan of wearing my hair up, but I find myself doing it more and more just for the sake of survival. I don't think I'll ever get used to 80 degree weather at night after 40 degree weather in the mornings. But regardless of the strange sunny weather we have been having, it's going to be a great day for me. And I hope it is for you!

earth/sky

day 271

Today was a mightily productive/lazy day at the same time. Tuesdays and Thursdays I'm done with class by lunch time, so I have the rest of the day off to do whatever I want. So today I registered to vote, impressed boys by playing Halo and actually killed some aliens, went to a newspaper meeting (and actually get to do something really exciting that I can't wait to share with you guys), cleaned my room, and worked on some future blog posts! The days are long, but the weeks are short. I can't believe we are already almost done with our fifth week of college.

pick up that dirty crown

day 270

My Wednesdays look like this: I may or may not wake up early to go to breakfast. If I do, then I come back to my dorm to study or relax. If I don't, I sleep in and eat cereal in my room. Then I go to chapel. Then right after that it's college algebra, where I try not to fall asleep, and Bible where I start to wake up again. Then after that I go to a late lunch, where I either sit by myself or if I'm lucky I see someone I know (all my friends go to lunch when I have class). Then I have an hour to take photos or do any last minute psychology homework before class. After psychology I have twenty minutes to change/relax before it's off to work. I work for the set/scene shop in the theater department where I am helping build the set for the upcoming play. I use a power drill and power saw and power everything and cut up my hands and get bruises and sweat a lot and feel slightly intimidated by all the upperclassmen boys for an hour, but it's an awesome job and I'm really glad I got it instead of the sewing job. Then after work I go straight to dinner, and then after that it's resting time where I update my blog or do more homework or paint people's nails or watch episodes of Community with the gang.

It's a busy day (which is also repeated on Mondays and Fridays), but I love it so much. I mailed my first package today, signed some job paperwork, and filled out papers to become a registered voter. I'm planning a spring break trip with my friends and next year's living situation (we want to get our own house). I love life, I love my friends, I love my boyfriend, I love my family, I love school, I just love everything. You guys don't even know how happy I finally am.

smells like home

dress: thrifted // shirt: from Matt (boyfriend) // shoes: target

One thing I hate? Pajamas in public. If a person makes an effort to get out of bed, they have enough effort to put on real clothes. However, I am a firm believer in comfortable clothes, and if you're lucky enough, you have those pieces of clothing that literally feel like you're wearing pajamas. This dress is one of those things. I could just snuggle up in it all day. I bought it on a shopping trip with my friends for only $1. Welcome to thrift stores in the lower 48! I think I could get used to living in Oregon.

On days when I especially miss Matt, it's nice to wear one of his shirts that he gave me. I have another one that I wear occasionally, and I swear they still smell like him. So cheesy, but it feels like he's giving me a hug whenever I wear it.

Hope your day treats you well! You are awesome.
