I finally finished editing the photos from Joel and Marquel's wedding! I'm so excited to share some of my favorites with you. This was my first wedding as the photographer and I learned so so much, let's hope I can put the new skills to the test in future weddings.
The thing I was initially nervous about was being on stage during the ceremony. People always come up to me and compliment on my ability to appear invisible. I had taken photos for my church earlier this year and the pastor said he didn't even notice me running around everywhere snapping photos (and we go to a small church so it's pretty easy to see everyone).
For the wedding, I had a little bit of a name to live up to in that respect, plus I didn't want to be the annoying photographer who blocked everyone's view. One major thing I learned was that it is nearly impossible to shoot a wedding alone. I'm so thankful that my friend Jacob and my boyfriend Matt were also photographers with me, because it actually is impossible to be in three places at once. As for remaining invisible, I ended up standing on the stage nearly the entire time, so I had nothing to worry about.
The biggest challenge was actually taking charge and directing people. For those of you who have been reading my blog for even a little bit know that I'm an introvert (hello, blog name), so it's hard for me to tell people much louder than me what to do. I'm noticing that every time I babysit, I get better at being authoritative, and this wedding really stretched me to work harder on that characteristic. (I just have to remember that people won't really remember the photographer being a little loud to get people to listen.)
This day was definitely a whirlwind. It was busy and tiring but I absolutely loved it, and I hope I get to do more weddings in the future. (And on a side note for my own documentation purposes: Matt asked me to dance for one song, so we both took a quick break from taking photos to dance. It was super sweet of him for giving me a break from taking pictures of other people having fun.)
My favorite part of the wedding? Giving Joel and Marquel photos that I'm proud of and having them love every single one. Thank you guys so much for putting so much faith in me and for letting me share your special day!
day 215
This is my "I didn't even want to touch my camera today" photo.
My mom took me to a cool fabric store and even though I found super gorgeous fabric, I couldn't justify spending $50 just to make a dress. (Why is fabric so ridiculously expensive?)
Hooray! Another giveaway! Over on flickr I had been hosting a print exchange to get a bunch of inspiring photos for a photo wall in my new dorm room, so I decided to host a giveaway on here. It's pretty simple. The winner will be chosen randomly and will receive two prints of my photography.
All you have to do is:
1. Be a follower of Introvert's Introduction.
2. Head over to my flickr and post the link to the two photos you would like in the comments below (don't worry, you can change your mind if you win).
3. Leave your name and a fun fact about yourself. :)
And that's all! I'm also hosting a giveaway on my facebook page, so if you want more opportunities to win (aka one winner from the blog and one winner from flickr), check out how to enter over there!
Giveaway ends August 16th, 2012 @ 11:59pm Alaska time.
Good luck!
day 214
Sometimes I wish I could be God, only for the fact that I then would be able to see a person's entire past, all of their thoughts and feelings and struggles and dreams. It's a horrible feeling to know that no one in the entire world will ever know every single thing about you, every little word that marked you. Even if you spend your entire life with someone, you still will never know all the stories from their childhood; and even more intimately, how they felt and their thoughts during those stories.
Sorry this photo is so late, I have spent the wee hours of the evening working on a project that I can't wait to share with you guys, and I couldn't bear to leave it unfinished for the time being just in the name of a good night's rest. I'm a teenager, I'm allowed to make dumb decisions like that (oh just listen to me, I'm such a rebellious person, sewing at two in the morning). The only other thing of consequence that occurred today was me babysitting my kids again, but today they were less than perfect so I don't have too many fun stories to share. Except the neighbor kid decided to put a little table and chairs under the trampoline and set up a portable dvd player to watch Rolie Polie Olie. (Blast from the past for me.) Of course it was pouring down rain (and by pouring I totally mean a little more than a sprinkle) and a trampoline isn't the best cover from the rain. The kids' mom said we couldn't watch a movie today, but they managed to do so anyways, thanks to the makeshift outdoor theater. But don't worry, we still got ready for bed in time.
As for this photo, I basically put in zero effort. The rain made me avoid going outdoors (though I usually don't let it stop me). This is the first photo in the 365 project that hasn't been expanded in a while, but I am quite alright with that.
Hope you had a lovely Wednesday.
