what's in my bag?

Today is the big day! It's the wedding! In just a few moments I'll be headed out to photograph my first wedding and I couldn't be more excited and apprehensive. I thought it would be fun to show you guys what I'll be taking with me to the wedding, so without further adieu, here is a peek at the inside of my camera bag.

1; the bag itself is a vintage beauty, given to me by a really awesome friend (the same girl who gave me the dress for my thirty day dress challenge! 2; I really don't need to bring any film, but these have always been in the bag for when I use my film camera, so they shall stay for this event. 3; two giant lists of group shots that the bride and groom's parents want. 4; an extra battery for my camera. Batteries are so stinkin expensive, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. 5; extra sd card. In case I use up all the space on my 32 GB (that's a joke ... I'm starting to think it's impossible to fill up that sd card). 6; homemade lens cover that turns bokeh into heart-shaped bokeh. 7; the sunglasses are mostly for driving, but if it's sunny when outdoor shots are taken I may whip these guys out. 8; my sketchbook in case I need to write something down. 9; a pencil which has the ability to write. 10; my cell phone to call my mom in case of a nervous break down (I kid, I kid, that won't happen) and to instagram it up yo (@impulsings). 11; my lensbaby. 12; lensbaby aperture disks. 13; a huge stack of business cards I'll be throwing at people.

And as always I'll have my trusty camera around my neck the entire time, shielding me from social contact and being my vip pass to go anywhere I want.

Well, I best be going now. I can't wait to share the photos with you in the upcoming weeks. Wish me luck and have a great day!

you plant the seeds; you make them grow

day 174

It was a fairly interesting day, running around with my mom, hiccuping at the library, and taking practice photos at the wedding reception.

Time is so interesting. No matter how much we want (or don't want something) to happen, time still continues and tomorrow will come and then it will pass.

But I am very excited to shoot this wedding. It's a whole new experience and I have had enough practice from shooting for my church during the service, and again with the rehearsal and figuring out the best shots. Tomorrow shall be a long day, waking up early and going to bed late, but we've been waiting for this day for months. It's going to be awesome.

crying at a wedding

Today is the day before the big day! I'm headed off to help decorate and snap a few practice shots of the rehearsal, then pigging out at the rehearsal dinner for the wedding. It's a busy busy day but I'm loving it. The nerves are going away and now I'm just excited for Joel and Marquel's wedding!

To celebrate, I've gathered together some tear-jerkers for you. Tumblr always goes through these phases, I've noticed. Last summer it was the wedding video phase and man oh man were my eyes regretful of that! I sat in my darkened room just bawling over wedding video after wedding video. Hopefully you'll do the same because there is nothing quite like a wedding. Here's some videos that made me cry like a baby. I know some of them are long, but trust me, they're totally worth it.

day 173

I woke up an hour before I had to babysit, so the majority of my day was spent with three kids whom I have no relation to and yet I love them dearly. After we had set up the sprinkler in the front yard and they were getting soaking wet in their clothes, the feeling of really wanting my own kids and running around in the sprinkler with them and just playing in the sun swept over me. Hah, eighteen and already I want children. What's wrong with me? I think it might be nice to be a stay at home mom. It will give me a chance to be a kid again, only this time I can drive. Don't worry though, it's still many years before I get little ones.

My sister so kindly agreed to model for my 365 for today as I had nothing else planned, so we had a mini sister shoot together. It wasn't long before the mosquitoes got to us, and after already receiving countless welts on my skin (and hers--you can even see a mosquito on her hand in the last photo), we didn't stay outside too long.
